This post provides some quick facts and numbers about European population residing in Japan based on official statistics.

Quick facts

  • There are about 75,000 European nationals living in Japan (by 2018)
  • Their number has more than tripled between years 1988 and 2016
  • Most of the Europeans in Japan come from the UK (about 18,000) followed by France (13,000), Russia (9,000), Germany (7,000) and Italy (4,000)
